Best grips?

Postby VicJitsu on Sun Dec 09, 2007 8:41 pm

Hi all,

Which grips do you find work best for the following techniques: (Mine are in brackets from a leftys point of view)

1. Tai O Toshi (Lt hand cross grip on opponents left lapel, Rt hand on bottom of opponents Lt sleeve)
2. Uchi Mata (Lt hand over top and grabbing opponents gi at the back, Rt hand on bottom of opponents Lt sleeve)
3. Harai Goshi (same as for Uchi Mata)
4. O Soto Gari (same as for Uchi Mata)

Apart from/as well as these techniques, which grips do you find work best for general offence and defence?

Also, which grip breaks do you find most effective for lapel and sleeve?

Hi Vic
I like sleeve and high lapel for all those, switch to high collar for Uchi mata and Harai if possible.
Mossy is the grips king.
